Jackie Shroff opens up on his struggles in Mumbai for work
Shroff discusses about his struggles in the industry, he had only positive things to say. Jackie said, “Work is work. It started two years after I left 11th grade. Two years after leaving school, I started working. I used to check buttons on clothes, then became a supervisor, then a travel agent, then modelling, and then films. I never realised the transition. It never felt like anything; I just kept going, took on whatever came my way, and moved forward. Even today, it’s the same; nothing has changed. There were many people who supported me. The greatest support I got was from the greatest is the one who has always been there, who lifted me from nothing and placed me here among big TV shows. It’s a huge deal, brother.”
Further talking about dealing with failures Shroff commented, “All these things touch the heart, don’t they, brother? After working so hard, if the public gives you love and appreciation, it feels good and boosts your morale—not just ours but also our producers. There are only a handful of producers like that.”
Jackie continued, “Where is cinema today? Most cinema halls have been torn down and replaced with buildings. A few small single screens are left, but even they are barely surviving. I just want cinema halls to be filled like they used to be, with people cheering, whistling as they leave, throwing flowers and money in celebration. That energy and power still exist. But I feel that now we all need to tread carefully. We have to be mindful of budgets, theatre ticket prices, and many other factors. There’s a lot to consider moving forward.”
Jackie Shroff also revealed his desire to work with his son Tiger Shroff in a good and powerful movie. He praised his co-star Sikander Kher of being extremely sweet and a great actor and shared that Sikander does not like being active on Instagram.
